F*ck Being A Princess
I'd rather be a witch
Many of us grew up watching Disney movies wherein the princess was the fairest in all the land. The witch was usually a mean, ugly hag. Her screechy laugh and pointy chin expressing her inner cruelty.
Year after year, as a little girl in the 1960’s, I watched the Miss America pageant. As Bert Parks sang: “Here she is Miss America,” I yearned with every part of me to be wear that crown and carry that bouquet of roses.
She was perfection.
She was the star.
Her happily ever after was just beginning.
Like Cinderella watching as her step sisters left for the ball, I sat in my corner singing: “In my own little corner, in my own little room, I can be whatever I want to be.”
I’m curious how many of us get stuck in fantasy and escapism. From then until now, a lot of dreams have come true, yet, still there’s a little piece of Susy’s sense of self that is stuck in the ashes.
I used to attend Agape church in LA, and they called prayer “treatment.” I liked how they would say “treat and move your feet.” It reminded me of the Bible verse: “faith without works is dead.”
The problem I have with the: “if it has to be it’s up to me” ethos is that many of us get stuck in our unconscious patterns, like quicksand these traps can cause us to sabotage our own success.
What’s the solution?
How can we free ourselves from sinking in the quicksand of our unhealed wounds?
Here is the point where, if I was a spiffy marketing person, I would insert: “3 Quick Tips to Enlightenment,” or “6 Steps to Happiness,” or some other snappy slogan.
While I can’t come up with a super “get happy quick” plan, I can offer encouragement and hope.
There is no age limit for happiness and fulfillment
You are not alone
Be willing to be surprised
Oh my gosh, I guess I am a snappy marketer! ha ha~
If you’ve ever felt like Cinderella in the ashes, or as if you were alone; if shame or a nebulous negative feeling haunts your mood, you’re not crazy; you’re a human being. Hearts, minds, and nervous systems need specialized attention and care. The good news is that, rather than reading another self help book, your solutions will be found within you. You might need some help finding them. They might be hidden. This is where I come in and help you find them.
Your story provides the pathway. As you explore your stories, you’ll find the way forward for you as you heal what has been holding you back. I help you find it.
Healing doesn’t always have to be mystical, difficult, or heavy, and you don’t have to do it alone.
The magic is within you, and you don’t have to be a witch to cast your spell and turn ashes into gold. All the parts of you are safe, the princess, the queen, the child, and the wise woman. Your story holds all the clues to the puzzle of your life. I’d love to help you put the pieces together.
Love,
